Cataloguer's tools

Guideline 4.3 of the ScOT cataloguing and indexing guide recommends against describing a resource using both parent and child terms. This cataloguing tool allows you to check the hierarchical relationship between terms. Simply enter the relevant terms in the text box, separated by semi-colons, pipes, or tabs (eg. Coasts; Landforms|Earth structure), with or without spaces. NOTE: Query terms will only be displayed if they are exact matches for ScOT terms, including capitalisation.

Results will display the hierarchy of each search term, from the term itself up to the top-level concept. Other search terms that are parent terms will be displayed in red text.
